Scientist (Senior Level) Knowledge Manager | Nemours | Newark, DE
Nemours Health and Prevention Services (NHPS) headquartered in Newark,
Delaware, works with families and communities to help children grow up
healthy, both physically and emotionally. It is a division of Nemours, a
non-profit organization dedicated to children's health and health care
that offers treatment services, research and training programs in
Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. Health and Prevention is
Nemours' newest division, created to expand its reach beyond clinical
care to consider the health of the whole child within his or her family
and community.
NHPS work currently focuses on two health topics: Healthy
Eating/Physical Activity (HEPA) and Emotional/Behavioral Health (EBH).
We work toward integrated policy, practice, and program change in four
sectors in the State of Delaware: childcare, schools, primary health
care and communities.
Nemours Health & Prevention Services, Center for Evaluation & Research
(CER) seeks an innovative and future oriented knowledge scientist with a
strong public service orientation to serve as the senior knowledge
manager. This position will leverage technology and staff creativity to
lead in the development of the Division's culture, processes,
infrastructure and information resources to facilitate the creation and
utilization of NHPS knowledge, expertise and information to develop
knowledge management systems. In addition, this position is be
responsible for ensuring that the organization as the appropriate
resources and tools to capture and reuse knowledge. Collaborating with
line organizations and cross organizationally to influence processes
into a knowledge-centric management practice.
The two primary areas of responsibility are NHPS knowledge management
and library services. This includes oversight of the NHPS Library;
library technologies particularly as applied to discovery and access
tools, integrated library systems, digital library and institutional
repository projects, acquisition and cataloging of materials, and
electronic resources management. In addition, oversight of knowledge
management practices encompassing the development of processes and
strategies, identifying and developing various techniques to facilitate
knowledge transfer, identifying knowledge for capture and dissemination
throughout the NHPS, acquiring necessary knowledge as it is prioritized
by the organization and maintaining knowledge systems.
The Knowledge Manager is to bring about the implementation of the
knowledge management processes, infrastructure and organizational
procedures and to enable the building and effective utilization of a
Division knowledge base.
These responsibilities will include ensuring that:
- Information needs are understood and acknowledged; resources and
intellectual assets are identified and managed on an integrated basis;
processes exist to facilitate the acquisition and sharing of information
and knowledge; appropriate structures for the development of staff are
available; utilization of information and communication technology
supports Knowledge Management objectives.
- Build a library of information and then managing its growth as a
resource, creating a information network within the offices to help
source knowledge and information, and setting up a system to ensure
access to information; implement a quality assurance processes to ensure
that knowledge libraries are current and accurate.
- Use of knowledge tools, self-service support, and support processes,
involving cross-functional, cross-team collaboration to meet business
goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. or related doctorate required
- Postgraduate qualification in Librarianship, Information Sciences or a
related discipline [Master's Degree in Library and Information Science
(MSL) from an American Library Association accredited school or Master's
Degree in Information Technology, or equivalent degree and experience
preferred]
- Previous experience of leading the development of a knowledge or
information culture in other organizations.
